Blue Monday Brigade 17th January 2012
Our friends over at People United have sent us an update of how they battled Blue Monday. They put together the ‘Blue Monday Briagde’ who went around cheering up all the businesses that work in the Innovation Centre at the University of Kent.
They prepared a ‘Menu of Kindness’ from which the businesses could select and special treat, it contained a performance, lucky dips, cake and sweets. There are some great photos of all the people that used the kind service. Check out the People United website to see all the great things they do.

The Big Blue Discount by NUS 17th January 2012
To help students battle the blues at their first day back to University, the National Union of Students put 2,012 NUS cards on sale for a pound. The card provides students with a range of discounts and the NUS hope that getting the access to these discounts for such a low price will brighten the start of the year for many students.
The sale was so popular that at one point the NUS website crashed due to the high amount of traffic to it, so it did seem to be a very popular offer.
Check out the NUS here.
Cake and Laughter 17th January 2012
Justteachers Ltd set out to buck the gloomy trend by making the day National Cream Cake Day and giving out cakes to lift people’s moods.
Justteachers Head Office in Skipton also enlisted the help of local town crier Kevin Griffiths to dress up as a Laughing Teacher (think Laughing Policeman) to create a few giggles on Blue Monday.
Kevin said: “Monday 16 January is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year so justteachers plan was to brighten people’s moods and what better way than with laughter which is so infectious. It certainly cheered me up and caused a giggle.”
