Northern Stage will turn their smallest stage into a haven of fun and relaxation at lunchtime, with giant Jenga, Twister and lots of other favourite games and at teatime a special screening of their collective favourite feel-good film with lashings of hot chocolate and slippers for those who want them. The hope is that Blue Monday will offer anyone in the building a little island of calm.

…and here’s a report from the college as to how it all went

No Blue Monday for College Students.

Monday 25 Jan can be seen by some as the most depressing day of the year; no sun, nothing to look forward to and just long enough to give up on your New Year’s resolutions. So inspired by local charity, People United, the Students’ Union put on their very own Blue Monday event to put a smile on the face of staff and students.

The day included create your own Hot Chocolate with extra cream and marshmallows, blue cup cakes, games and a bean-bag chill out zone with giant blue balloons being released much to the amazement of passers by. The day’s events were hosted by our very own “Blue Man” who compèred an acoustic music stage in the main College Street. Performing arts students also helped spread the message by performing a rousing version of Judy Garland’s “Get Happy” which had toes tapping.

The event was a great success and over £100 was raised in kind donations towards the DEC appeal for the Haitian Earthquake.
